How It Works

This activity will encourage you to think about becoming an active global citizen. The motivational video entitled “What Does it Mean to be a Citizen of the World?” by Hugh Evans is meant to inspire us to continually think about ourselves as citizens of the world, not just members of one single country or culture.

How You Do It

• Watch the TED talk video What Does it Mean to be a Citizen of the World? by humanitarian Hugh Evans.

• As you watch, think about yourself in this role as a global citizen and leader.

• After the video, write down 3 points about the idea of global citizenship that surprised you, excited you, or motivated you while you watched.

Take Away Points

• Being an active global citizen and leader can mean different things to different people, but the important thing is that we recognize how our actions and attitudes can transcend national borders to make an impact on a much bigger scale.
