Our Mission

is to inspire students to become global citizens by taking an active interest in the world around them. We achieve this by providing international travel programs in the areas of cultural immersion, wildlife conservation, and leadership development. Walking Tree Travel (WTT) offers a curious and compassionate approach to travel. Unlike a typical tour, our programs are designed for a select group of travelers who seek an authentic international experience that offers the opportunity to effect positive change at home and abroad.

Custom Group Travel

Walking Tree Travel partners with schools and educators to create dynamic programs to destinations around the world. In order to provide our participants with a unique, adventurous, and safe experience the SSA team will work closely with the Group Organizer to tailor the itinerary to each group’s needs, and interests, and classroom goals.

Individual Open Enrollment Travel

Walking Tree, in collaboration with the Smithsonian is pleased to offer a collection of Open Enrollment Programs for individual high school students (ages 14-18) interested in traveling with other students to destinations around the world. Starting in 2017, all Open Enrollment Programs will be offered under the name Smithsonian Student Adventures. Candidates are accepted onto these programs based on the strength of their application, which is reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more, please visit the below link.
