WWII Resistance Program

Learn about the many ways people resisted during World War II. Through visits to institutions and sites dedicated to preserving and teaching resistance history, students will explore personal stories, historical places, and exhibits that highlight acts of defiance and moral courage. The trip also offers the opportunity to experience some of Europe’s vibrant cities, combining meaningful learning with cultural discovery.

Feb 20 2026MunichUpon arrival in Munich, we will meet our Walking Tree Program Leader and begin our exploration with a visit to the Dachau Memorial. This sobering site was the first Nazi concentration camp and serves as a powerful reminder of the atrocities of WWII. After our visit, we’ll travel into the city to check in at our hotel. Later, we’ll explore central Munich, taking in the city’s charm before sitting down to a welcome dinner.Munich Hotel
Feb 21 2026MunichToday, we will explore Munich through the lens of its WWII history during a guided walking tour. We’ll visit significant sites, including the Munich Documentation Centre, which offers a deep look into the origins and consequences of National Socialism. We'll also make a visit to the White Rose Foundation. Afterward, we’ll break for lunch and enjoy free time to explore the city at our own pace. In the evening, we’ll reconvene for dinner.Munich Hotel
Feb 22 2026MunichWe will embark on a full-day excursion to Salzburg, Austria. Located on the border of Germany nestled in the Eastern Apls, Salzburg is where The Sound of Music takes place. We'll take a guided walking tour of town before breaking from lunch. Next, we'll take the funicular up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress, a huge castle which overlooks the entire city. After a guided tour of the castle and the grounds, we'll have dinner in Salzburg before heading back to Munich this evening.Munich Hotel
Feb 23 2026Munich - AmsterdamThis morning, we will fly to Amsterdam and begin the next chapter of our European experience. Upon landing, we’ll visit the historic Rembrandt windmill along the Amstel River before heading into the city to check into our hotel. We'll visit a traditional Dutch clog maker and also learn about the cheese making process. In the evening, our Program Leader will guide us on an introductory walk through central Amsterdam, followed by a group dinner.Amsterdam Hotel
Feb 24 2026AmsterdamWe will start the day with a deeply moving visit to the Anne Frank House, where we’ll explore the secret annex that sheltered Anne and her family during the Nazi occupation. Afterward, a local guide will lead us on a historical walk through the canal-lined streets, sharing stories from Amsterdam’s WWII era. We’ll then board a scenic canal cruise, offering a unique perspective of the city. Dinner will follow in the evening.Amsterdam Hotel
Feb 25 2026AmsterdamOur morning will be devoted to exploring Amsterdam’s Jewish Quarter, a center of remembrance and resilience. We’ll visit the recently opened Amsterdam Holocaust Museum, the Resistance Museum, and the Hollandsche Schouwburg Memorial, each shedding light on the city’s wartime experiences. The area also includes two historic synagogues, symbols of a once-thriving community. After lunch, we’ll continue discovering the city's highlights, including the floating flower market, Dam Square, and the Royal Palace. We'll also make time to visit the Rijksmuseum. In the evening, we’ll gather for a special farewell dinner to celebrate our unforgettable journey.Amsterdam Hotel
Feb 26 2026Amsterdam - USAOn our final day, we will transfer to the Amsterdam airport and begin our return trip to the United States, carrying home powerful memories and a deeper understanding of Europe’s WWII history.Your own bed, eventually

In order to provide a safe and memorable experience, we follow strict guidelines when choosing group accommodations. Walking Tree partners with hotels and guest houses which are centrally located, locally operated, clean and safe.  We inspect each partner hotel to ensure they meet these standards.

This newly renovated, bright and comfortable hotel is located in the center of Amsterdam. Just a short walk from Old Town, this is the perfect location for us to be based in Amsterdam. All rooms have access to Wifi, central heat and air conditioning.

Art Hotel Munich

Art Hotel Munich offers comfortable rooms with artistic touches, located in the center of the city. This will be the perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. All rooms have central heat, air conditioning and access to Wifi.
