Dear Families, Friends, and Travelers – Welcome to the 2025 Ranney Japan Cultural Journey! We have created two webpages dedicated to this exciting program so that travelers are as informed as possible throughout the process. The first page, Pre-Enrollment, is meant to share exciting details, highlights and pertinent info that participants will want to know before enrolling. Once enrolled, the Post-Enrollment page, is meant to prepare travelers for participation on the adventure ahead. Japan Cultural Journey

This island nation is one of the most remarkable and unique travel destinations in the world. It’s a country with millennia of proud history but also one that rushes forward toward modernity, creating for a fantastic mix of old and new. Ancient shrines bump up against shiny skyscrapers and neon lights blend with the quiet of the countryside. The food is world-class, the landscapes are spectacular and the culture is one that respects tradition and history alongside karaoke and manga. Few places on earth offer an experience as rich and wonderful!

June 4, 2025TokyoThis morning, immerse yourself in the spiritual heart of Tokyo with a visit to Sensō-ji, the famous and historical Buddhist Temple.

In the afternoon, pass through the Meiji Shrine's sacred torii, passing through its iconic torii gate, a symbolic gateway of traditional Japanese spirituality. Take time to connect with nature as you stroll through the tranquil forest surrounding the shrine, finding moments of peace and introspection amidst the bustling city.

In the colorful Harajuku District next door, explore a different kind of energy-- the vibrant spirit of Japanese culture and fashion. Explore the hidden backstreets with your guide, gaining insights into modern life in Tokyo.

In the evening, pay homage to the legendary Hachiko statue in Shibuya, symbolizing loyalty and companionship. Marvel at the iconic Tokyo skyline as you stand amidst the bustling energy of Shibuya Crossing, feeling the pulse of the city and the rhythm of its people.

June 5, 2025Tokyo -> KawaguchikoBright and early we'll embrace the harmony of nature, wellness, and cultural tradition, finding moments of tranquility and rejuvenation amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes of Mt. Fuji's foothills in Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture.

Be surrounded by the majestic presence of Mt. Fuji, this tranquil destination promises a holistic experience of nature, relaxation, and wellness. We’ll visit Lake Ashi, basking in the beauty of our surroundings and soaking in the energy of the nature.

We will venture to Owakudani, a geological marvel within the volcanic zone of Mt. Fuji. Witnessing the raw power of nature, we'll marvel at the sulfuric vents and bubbling hot springs that fuel the region's health-promoting onsens. Here, we'll have the chance to indulge in a time-honored tradition—the tasting of Owakudani black eggs, boiled in the sulfuric waters and believed to bestow longevity and vitality. Retreat to the soothing waters of an onsen, allowing tensions to melt away into a sense of relaxation.

Indulge in a dinner featuring various meticulously crafted dishes that showcase the freshest seasonal ingredients, reflecting both health-consciousness and hospitality at its finest.

Indulge in creamy and luscious treats crafted from the freshest milk sourced from Hokkaido's prized cows. Venture to Maruyama Park, where Hokkaido Shrine resides featuring grand torii gates and serene forests.

Or if you fancy a bike ride, go around Moerenuma Park and enjoy its harmony of art and nature with lush greenery and outdoor sculptures. Ascend a 5-story glass pyramid for a magnificent view of Sapporo's skyline.

June 10, 2025Niseko -> TokyoOn our last day in Japan, start with a bullet train ride back to Tokyo.

As the day transitions into evening, immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of the neon-lit wonderland of Akihabara Electric Town, a mecca for enthusiasts of electronics, video games, manga, and anime. Pick up some last souvenirs at the local Don Quijote!

Conclude your Japanese adventure with a final dinner, then channel your inner rockstar as you step into a karaoke booth for a night of music, laughter, and camaraderie. Sing your heart out to your favorite tunes, creating memories that will last a lifetime and bidding farewell to Japan in style.

In order to give our travelers the best possible price, we break out airfare from the Program Tuition. We will still handle all booking and ticketing via our flight partner who has access to special fares not available to the general public. Once confirmed, you will be invoiced for the flight roughly 75 days prior to travel.
