We do everything possible to abide by  itineraries as originally planned, but decades of experience teaches that we must be flexible in our planning. Changes to a trip’s schedule are uncommon, but Walking Tree reserves the right to make adjustments to programming in the best interest of the group.

January 8AthensThe adventure begins! Upon arrival in Greece, we'll be greeted by our Walking Tree guide at the airport. Transfer to your centrally located hotel and get checked in before taking to the streets on a walking tour of the hip Plaka neighborhood. We'll also make time for an orientation meeting where we'll go over what to expect on our trip. We'll end the night with a delicious welcome dinner in the evening.Hotel in Athens
January 9AthensWe'll start the day with a guided sightseeing tour of Athens led by an expert local guide. Learn all about Greek history, past and present. It wouldn't be a trip to Athens without a visit to the Acropolis, which we will tour. We'll experience the Olympic Stadium and much more before Dinner in Plaka.Hotel in Athens
January 10Athens - OlympiaIt is time to explore the classics of Greece! Travel to Delphi with time allowing for lunch en route. Learn all you can on an expert-led guided sightseeing tour, which includes entrance to the Delphi Museum. We allow some time for lunch in Delphi town before traveling onwards to Olympia via some stops along the Gulf of Corinth. After checking in to your hotel in Olympia, we have dinner in the evening.Hotel in Olympia
January 11Olympia - KalamataWe start the day with the Olympia Archaeological Site and Museum before continuing to Bassae for the Temple of Apollo Epicurius, the famous temple dedicated to the god of healing and the sun, which was built toward the middle of the 5th century B.C. Onwards south to your final destination for the day, Kalamata. Sit down to a delicious dinner all together at night.Hotel in Kalamata
January 12KalamataAfter breakfast, we will attend a Greek Orthodox mass. Next, we visit the archaeological site of Ancient Messene, Pylos, and Methoni to see the local castle. After lunch, put on your walking shoes as you explore the natural surroundings on a mini-hike, or alternatively, if the weather is nice, a visit to discover Finikounda Beach before returning to Kalamata.Hotel in Kalamata
January 13Kalamata - GithioWe start the day with a visit to Mourtzinos Tower and then onwards to the coastal villages of Stoupa and Kardamyli, two towns surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful beaches where you'll have enough time here for lunch and to get refreshed with a walk. The highlight of the day, we travel back in time to the Neolithic era with a visit to the spectacular cave complex of Diros. Afterwards, you’ll travel south to the coastal town of Githio for your two-night stay. Once you’ve checked in to your hotel, you’ll enjoy dinner all together.Hotel in Githio
January 14Githio - Monemvassia - GithioFrom Githio, travel east to Gefira and cross the Monemvassia Bridge to the town of the same name. Discover Monemvassia’s medieval castle before enjoying a guided walk of Gefira’s central town. Return to Githio in the afternoon.Hotel in Githio
January 15Githio - NafpiloStart today with visits to both the Byzantine City of Mystras and the prominent city-state in ancient Greece, Sparti. Continue to travel north to Nafplio for dinner and your overnight stay.Hotel in Nafpilo
January 16Nafpilo -Bourtzi - NafpiloGet out on the water with a visit to Bourtzi, including entrance to the Venetian water castle. Transfer back to Nafplio and have some afternoon free time to explore the beautiful town and Acronafplia, Nafplio's oldest castle, which rises at the top of the Old Town.Hotel in Nafpilo
January 17Nafpilo - Mykines - AthensWe travel north to the Peloponnese region, making a stop at Mykines to visit the famed archaeological site. Arrive in Athens and check in to your centrally located hotel. Wrap the program up with a very special farewell Greek dinner, including music and dance this evening.Hotel in Athens
January 18Athens - USAAll good things must come to an end. This morning, you'll head to the airport and board your flight back to the USA.Your own bed

Accommodations


In order to provide a safe and memorable experience, we follow strict guidelines when choosing group accommodations. Walking Tree partners with hotels and guest houses which are centrally located, locally operated, clean and safe.  We inspect each partner hotel to ensure they meet these standards.

Below are the accommodations we anticipate using on your program, subject to availability. 
Hotel Rex Nafpilo

Located in the heart of Nafpilo, Hotel Rex is the perfect spot for our group. We will be within walking distance of the historic downtown as well as the coast. Rooms come complete with air conditioning and access to wifi.

Pantheon Gythio City Hotel

Recently and completely renovated, this spacious hotel has been rated as one of the top hotels in Gythion. The hotel is located just a few blocks from the city center and is also situated in front of the water. All rooms have air conditioning and access to wifi.

Pharae Palace Hotel Kalamata

Pharae Palace is a four star hotel that has 76 comfortable rooms, which have recently been renovated. The hotel is centrally located, just steps away from the waterfront while also in the heart of Kalamata. All rooms have air conditioning and wifi.

Neda Hotel Olympia

Neda Hotel is just a two minute walk from the center of Olympia, offering the perfect location for our group to explore the area. All rooms have air conditioning and wifi, and there is a beautiful swimming pool as well.

Crystal City Hotel Athens

Crystal City Hotel is a three star, first class hotel located in the center of Athens.  The hotel has ample space for groups, includes air conditioning and wifi throughout the property, and offers stunning views of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill from the 7th floor rooftop garden.

Your Adventure Includes

Estimated Airfare

In order to give our travelers the best possible price, we break out airfare from the Program Tuition. We will still handle all booking and ticketing via our flight partner who has access to special fares not available to the general public. Once confirmed, you will be invoiced for the flight roughly 75 days prior to travel. 

Program Tuition Excludes: Travel insurance, baggage fees, passport/visa fees, laundry, souvenirs, and activities not listed on itinerary.
