Chile Cultural Journey
Buffered between the majestic Andes mountains on the east and over 2500 miles of Pacific coastline on the west, the wild geography unique to the Republic of Chile will leave its visitors breathless. The country famously hosts some of the most pristine natural settings in the planet- from the arid Atacama desert in the north to the rugged, glacial Patagonia in the south- but is also home to other vibrant urban environments as well. There is no shortage of rich cultural experiences in Valparaíso, the colorful cliffside hometown of Pablo Neruda; or in the dynamic metropolis of Santiago, Chile’s capital city home to over 7 million people; or when staying with host families in more off-the-beaten-path destinations like Concepción. Come see for yourself all that Chile has to offer!

The Itinerary
We do everything possible to run safe, engaging, and immersive programs for our travelers and given the unpredictable nature of international travel we must remain flexible in our planning. Changes to a schedule are uncommon but, we reserve the right to adjust programming in the best interest of the group.

| 1 | USA - Santiago | Today we will depart the USA and fly to Santiago, Chile, arriving the following day. | Airplane |
| 2 | Santiago | ¡Bienvenidos a Chile! After settling in after our long journey, we will hold an orientation meeting before setting off to explore the grand capital. This day will be a historical day, including a walking tour of Cerro Santa Lucia, Barrio Lastarria, Palacio La Moneda, La Plaza de Armas and El Catedral. Students will have dinner near the hotel and get a good night's sleep. | Hotel Neruda Express |
| 3 | Santiago | Today’s schedule will be an active experience, visiting Santiago’s most bustling highlights. These will include La Vega Mercado Central in the morning; Parque Forestal, a tour of the museum created from Poet Pablo Neruda’s city apartment- La Chascona; and a breathtaking ride of the teleférico to the top of Cerro San Cristobal for a 360 degree city view. Afterwards, we'll stroll leisurely back down from the hill and relax after a fulfilling day. | Hotel Neruda Express |
| 4 | Santiago - San Pedro de Atacama | After breakfast at the hotel, the group will head to the airport to fly to Calama. Upon arrival to Calama, the group will take a bus to the driest place in the world, San Pedro de Atacama, and get situated in the hotel. After dinner, we will participate in an astronomic tour in one of the world's best destinations for stargazing due to the unique climate. | Hotel la Casa de Don Tomas |
| 5 | San Pedro | Today the group will head head to San Pedro's most iconic locations, Valle de la Luna. This includes a trip to Tres Marias, Anfiteatro, Salt Caves, Dunes and a beautiful lookout at Coyote Rock. | Hotel la Casa de Don Tomas |
| 6 | San Pedro | Today the group will visit Piedras Rojas, where we will spend a good portion of the day exploring and admiring the otherwordly, red rock landscape. Afterwards, we will also pay a visit to Flamencos National Reserve to check out Las Lagunas Altiplanicas for some incredible contrasts between the lakes and mountains at this high elevation park. | Hotel la Casa de Don Tomas |
| 7 | San Pedro | Today the group will visit Valle del Arco Iris (Rainbow Valley) in the morning. In the afternoon we will visit and bathe in the Laguna Cejar, a salty lagoon! The adventures continue with more amazing views at Ojos del Salar, and another spectacular and beautifully colored lagoon, Laguna Tebinquinche. | Hotel la Casa de Don Tomas |
| 8 | San Pedro | Today the group will rise early to head to the Geysers del Tatio and explore a small town in the morning. In the afternoon we will relax in the thermal baths nearby- eight natural big holes filled with water that maintain a temperature of around 85 degrees Farenheit. | Hotel la Casa de Don Tomas |
| 9 | San Pedro | For the group's last full day in San Pedro, they will visit Salar De Tara, salt flats that are situated higher than 4,000 meters above sea level in the Flamingo National Reserve. The group will be able to see flamingos and various unique flora and fauna. They will also see the Monjes de Pacana, giant vertical rocks that were uniquely molded by the wind and look like monks. Then the group will head back to the hotel for a special last dinner in San Pedro! | Hotel la Casa de Don Tomas |
| 10 | San Pedro - Santiago | After breakfast in the hotel, the group will fly back to Santiago. Once settled into our hotel, we will hold a group reflection to digest the multitude of places we just experienced in San Pedro. We will also play group games and relax in the hotel. | 11 | Valparaiso | An epic adventure awaits in the port city of Valparaiso, only an hour and a half journey from Santiago. In this coastal and colorful town students will ride up and down the hidden funiculares to explore the UNESCO protected hillsides of Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción, taste local seafood, learn about the street art movement of Chile, and visit La Sebastiana, Poet Pablo Neruda’s beach home. We will enjoy a final dinner celebrating our time in country and return back to Santiago this evening. | Hotel Neruda Express |

Accommodations
In order to provide a safe and memorable experience, we follow strict guidelines when choosing program accommodations. Walking Tree partners with hotels and guest houses which are centrally located, clean and safe. We vet and inspect the accommodations to ensure they uphold the ethos of our programs, are great values for our travelers and nice places to rest after enriching days of travel.
MR. Hotel Providencia
MR. Hotel Providencia is a comfortable three-star hotel located in Santiago’s upscale Providencia neighborhood. All rooms come equipped with A/C, a TV. The hotel has lounge areas and Wi-Fi access to keep everyone feeling comfortable and connected. Students will be grouped in their rooms according to gender and availability.

In order to give our travelers the best possible price, we break out airfare from the Program Tuition. We will still handle all booking and ticketing via our flight partner who has access to special fares not available to the general public. Once confirmed, you will be invoiced for the flight roughly 75 days prior to travel.
