Walking Tree Travel is a student travel organization that has specialized in bringing high school students to different countries for language and service focused adventures for the past ten years. Our mission is to inspire young Americans to become global citizens by taking an active interest in the world around them. Our programs are designed for a motivated, select group of youth that is not looking for the typical tourist trip, but rather for an opportunity to form a lasting bond with another culture. The focus of our programs is on community service, language immersion and adventure travel, and all programs involve living in basic conditions, working on service projects and visiting some of the host country’s best destinations.
We also operate a collection of programs under the name Smithsonian Student Adventures. These programs have been created under a collaboration with The Smithsonian Institution and follow the same mission and structure as our Walking Tree programs. Candidates applying on either the Walking Tree Travel or Smithsonian Student Adventures website are automatically considered for both.
We currently have internships available in the following departments starting in the fall or spring.
- Sales and Outreach
- Program Management
- Marketing and Graphic Design
These unpaid internships require a minimum of 15 hours a week for a minimum of three months and are best suited to undergraduate or graduate students who need to earn credit toward graduation. These internships are based in Denver, Colorado and you would be expected to join the team on MWF from our headquarters in central Denver.
The ideal candidate will be able to follow a set list of tasks while also thinking outside of the box, motivated to work in a small, international team, and able to pivot from project to project quickly. An interest in travel and education is a requirement and an interest in foreign languages is a plus.
