  • My favorite meal in Perú was the swordfish that I ate the last night in Lima.I could see the ocean from my seat at the table. The highlight of the trip for me was climbing Wayna Picchu. Nothing was more rewarding than waking up at 3:20am after two days of hiking to climb over a kilometer to what seemed like the top of the world. It was amazing to be the first one at the top and have the entire peak to myself for five minutes.

  • I was immersed in an incredible, ancient culture and made lifelong friends from all over the United States. I was challenged to try new things and step out of my comfort zone, but the result was life-changing – and Perú stands out as one of my best memories!

  • My homestay was amazing. They were so giving; they wanted me to be comfortable 100% of the time. They were so patient with the language barrier and it made me feel like a part of their family.

  • I came away with friends I will have for a lifetime, a greater appreciation for different cultures, and the yearning to learn more about them and put myself in their spot.

  • The homestay was one of the greatest, most memorable experiences I have ever had. It took no more than two or three days for everything to click and it eventually felt so right that I could easily call it home. The overall amount of love and caring from my family was overwhelming and the feelings of belonging I had in the village is impossible to describe and something I’ll never forget. The homestay affected me in many positive ways and the only thing that could have possibly made it better was if I could have stayed longer.

  • I just wanted to thank you again for all your help and support during our China program! I really appreciate the effort to coordinate a trip that immersed us in the local Yunnan culture and go above and beyond a typical tourist trip. I very much enjoyed the language exchanges and I am so glad we were able to participate. The leaders knowledge of Chinese culture and fluency in the language helped us all adjust to life much more smoothly after arriving in China. In addition, I want to thank everyone at Walking Tree for making this trip possible I hope you guys adjusted back to home life and enjoy the rest of the summer!

  • The Walking Tree Travel "people" are amazing. They are organized, caring, attentive and above all, "grounded". :) Every teen should have the opportunity to learn about these programs. It's not for everyone, but for those who wish to sprout their wings and learn of the world, while being reminded of what really matters in life, and have FUN, then this is IT!

  • The trip was tremendously well put together. The restaurants were appetizing and savoring to the mouth. The excursions were quite amusing along with the crafty hotels which put us to bed nice and sound. The rafting and zip-lining was impressive to say the least. I'll never forget the fantastic home stay memories either. Thanks Walking Tree to a fabulous trip in Costa Rica.

  • I couldn't have had a better time this summer in Costa Rica! My experience with my new friends and what feels like my real second family taught me so much about Costa Rican culture, the spanish language, and about life in general! I would absolutely recommend that any high school student take this trip for a shift in perspective and an amazing summer!

  • The best part about a Walking Tree trip is that they give you an environment where you can make friends not based on anything but who they are. I didn't even know Spanish and it was still an amazing trip thanks to everyone from the leaders to the other students.

  • I cannot begin to describe the incredible life-changing experiences Casey has shared with our family. I know her time was spent – a perfect blend of fun and service. Not only did she learn and live the culture, she also has made some special friendships that I have no doubt will be lifelong.

  • Andrew worked for two years saving money for something special, when he learned of the Walking Tree Peru Discovery trip, he knew how he wanted to spend his money. He took a big risk and was COMPLETELY satisified. He had a great int'l experience, learning about a different culture, practicing Spanish, meeting friends from across the USA and creating lifetime memories. He's back at work and looking forward to making another Walking Tree investment!

  • Thank you Walking Tree. This is the first time we've sent any of our children away internationally without Mom/Dad and Walking Tree offered an incredible experience combining safety, service, education, culture, adventure, and independence. Our son relished the experience and will continue to share these memories with his new friends from across the USA for a very long time.

  • When our daughter approached us about wanting to do this trip we had so many apprehensions as parents. (Her only apprehensions were food and bugs!). Paul Laurie was marvelous in spending time discussing all my concerns during a long phone conversation. Sarah has just returned from her trip & had the most amazing time!! Not knowing anyone quickly translformed into making new friends unlike any experience she has had. Her time spent with her host family was absolutely a life changing experience.. The arena built for the village by the group leaves a lasting physical & emotional impression for everyone. Kudos to the numerous videos produced & posted for their trip! I have tremendous respect for Walking Tree, and the way this trip opened my daughter's eyes like no other trip has ever done for her before.

  • My daughter's experience with Walking Tree Travel was absolutely amazing. The program proved to be organized from start to finish, as well as inspiring and life changing. She came home feeling like she had accomplished something wonderful - traveling alone, making new friends, building something in a small community, learning more Spanish, and bonding with a new family. The entire experience more than exceeded our expectations and we are thrilled to have given her such a gift.

  • My son said the Walking Tree is a "must do" for his younger brother! He loved his group, made life time friends, and fell in love with his Costa Rican family! Walking Tree did a tremendous job of keeping the parents informed through out their journey...we felt very much a part of their experience. Thank you!

  • Brian had an exceptional time in Costa Rica. He loved his host family who took very good care of him, even going the extra mile to get him his favorite foods. He bonded with them immediately and called them "Mom" and "Dad." This experience has allowed Brian to look beyond American borders. Because of this, he will be become a better steward for community involvement.

  • Never has my daughter been so fulfilled, happy, exhausted, motivated, and connected to herself and those around her. Thank you for the opportunity that you provide teens - they have gained a greater appreciation for the things that really matter in the world - family, friends, fun and the satisfaction of helping others.

  • I was a bit apprehensive in the beginning about this. My mind was put to rest pretty quickly with phone calls with the staff. I am so thankful we let our daughter do this. This experience was amazing for her. Every member of Walking Tree was professional and willing to answer any and all our questions at any time. Our daughter's experience in Costa Rica is one in which she will never forget. The service project was great, the host family was her family away from home and so kind and loving. I would without a shadow of a doubt recommend this program to anyone. Thank you Walking Tree for making this service project and experience one that will stay with our daughter for the rest of her life. You are a class act and run a phenomenal program!

  • My daughter came home from school one day saying she wanted to go to Costa Rica after a presentation from Walking Tree. Seeing and feeling her excitement and motivation we got everything together for her to go. I am so thankful that we did that. She came home overflowing with stories of how wonderful it was. She was fearful and nervous going in but coming home, a completely different person. She was able to use the Spanish she has been learning for 10 years and cemented her love for the language. She absolutely loved her host family, from her little sister, to mom and Grandma and Grandpa. Going back home after her day of work was one of her favorite things. The confidence gained in the service work was amazing. She did things she never thought she would be able to do. The group grew to be great friends. Hope she has this opportunity again.

  • My experience with Walking Tree was fantastic. I was able to help plan as much of the itinerary as I wanted, something no other company but Walking Tree offered. Walking Tree continues to be the only program we endorse at our school, and for good reason. The service component at the orphanage, coupled with the cultural immersion in Mexico City and Guanajuato, made Mexico an overwhelming success. I'd highly recommend that teachers consider this unique custom opportunity with Walking Tree Travel.

  • Walking Tree made our complicated itinerary easy, smoothed away the bumps, and helped transform our Nicaragua trip into a wonderful and memorable journey. Hats off to Walking Tree for accommodating our nine Family Foundation trustees. Our transport, accommodations, and meals were all first-class. We look forward to a repeat performance next year.

  • The competition cannot hold a candle to Walking Tree. Walking Tree is a much more personable, much more authentic and a more original experience. This trip really showed my students a great deal about the real Costa Rica, not just the tourist side of this awesome country.
