Service Adventures

Explore the world and make a difference in a community abroad. Walking Tree service adventures are tailored for travelers who want to have a positive impact on a host community, while enjoying a thrilling adventure and making new friends. Programs range in duration from 10-30 days, where you will speak the local language, interact regularly with locals and forge deep connections with a new culture. The focus of your program will be a collaborative service project in a small community that will be guided by locals to ensure it’s usefulness.  The program is spent participating in exciting activities such as biking, kayaking, surfing, encountering exotic wildlife, or whitewater rafting. Why Service?

Ghandi once said: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Our leaders and travelers are dedicated to serving small communities in countries around the globe. Our Country Directors collaborate with local leaders to plan and implement projects that are community-driven.

Locally conceived projects ensure their usefulness. Professionals are hired to guide all work.

Examples of past projects include:

  • Renovating old or deteriorating infrastructures
  • Installing/upgrading water supply systems
  • General beautification of public spaces (waiting, planting, clean-up)
  • Public art installations
  • Reforestation efforts
  • Work to preserve local species & ecosystems
  • Outreach and education campaigns
