We do everything possible to abide by  itineraries as originally planned, but decades of experience teaches that we must be flexible in our planning. Changes to a trip’s schedule are uncommon, but Walking Tree reserves the right to make adjustments to programming in the best interest of the group.

Day 2BarcelonaAfter arriving and getting settled, we'll check out Barcelona and visit with a local expert La Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Las Ramblas and, if the group's up for it, Montjuic, a large hill that overlooks the entire city. Tonight we'll enjoy our first taste of local cuisine and discuss the upcoming trip in detail.Barcelona Hotel
Day 3Bacelona - San SebastianAfter breakfast we will travel by bus to San Sebastian, Spain's northern coastal gem. We'll enjoy sea kayaking and a beautiful beach sunset. For dinner, we will sample the famous "pintxos" of the Basque Country.San Sebastian Hotel
Day 4San SebastianWe'll start the day with a morning bike ride around San Sebastian to learn more about this amazing city and Basque culture. After lunch we'll have time to enjoy San Sebastian's city beach before free time for exploring and shopping in the center and of course, pintxos.San Sebastian Hotel
Day 5San Sebastian - BilbaoAfter breakfast we will travel by bus to Bilbao and spend the day exploring one of the most charming cities in all of northern Spain. We will also make time to visit along with our local guide, the world-famous Guggenheim Museum.Bilbao Hotel
Day 6Bilbao - SantanderWe will have a relaxing morning in the old quarter of Bilbao and take a classic cable car up to Mount Artxanda to have lunch, take in some impressive views of the city and bid farewell to Bilbao before taking our bus to Santander.Santander Hotel
Day 7SantanderToday we'll get to put our language knowledge into practice with a specialized Spanish class, designed to test everything we've learned and go home more confident in our abilities. After lunch, we'll have a photographic scavenger hunt to see more of the city and later enjoy some time on the beach before dinner.Santander Hotel
Day 8Santander - MadridAfter breakfast we'll board our high-speed train heading south to the capital, Madrid. Upon arrival in the afternoon, we'll get to explore the nearby neighborhoods including Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Templo de Debod, a real Egyptian temple in the heart of Madrid.Madrid Hotel
Day 9MadridOur first morning in Madrid begins with a traditional Spanish breakfast, followed by a guided tour of the renowned Prado Museum, home to one of the world’s most remarkable art collections. Later, we will wander through the lush Parque del Retiro, once a royal hunting ground, before exploring Madrid’s charming neighborhoods and visiting the lively Mercado San Miguel. We will wrap up the day with a delicious traditional dinner.Madrid Hotel

In order to give our travelers the best possible price, we break out airfare from the Program Tuition. We will still handle all booking and ticketing via our flight partner who has access to special fares not available to the general public. Once confirmed, you will be invoiced for the flight roughly 75 days prior to travel. 

Program Tuition Excludes: Travel insurance, baggage fees, passport/visa fees, laundry, souvenirs, and activities not listed on itinerary.
