Spain Cultural Journey North
The smell of paella, the rhythmic tapping of flamenco, the rugged peaks of the Pyrenees, the soft waves of the Mediterranean, the world class museums, the Moorish palaces, the medieval villages, and the people who seem to have more lust and passion for life than anywhere else; this is Spain! You will access all of this and more as you improve your Spanish language skills and escape the tourist path. We have carefully developed programs that include spending days hiking along the epic Camino de Santiago, learning to make olive oil at an old-world grove, enjoying tapas, exploring the colorful streets of Barcelona, and sketching our own versions of Dalí.

The Itinerary
We do everything possible to abide by itineraries as originally planned, but decades of experience teaches that we must be flexible in our planning. Changes to a trip’s schedule are uncommon, but Walking Tree reserves the right to make adjustments to programming in the best interest of the group.

| Day 1 | USA--MADRID | The Journey Begins! Today, we will depart from the USA, embarking on an exciting journey to Madrid, Spain. We will arrive the following day, ready to begin our adventure. | Airplane |
| Day 2 | MADRID | Upon arrival in Madrid, we will settle into our hotel after the long day of travel. Later, we will hold an orientation meeting to go over the details of the upcoming trip. Once refreshed, we will explore our neighborhood on foot and enjoy a delicious dinner near Plaza Santa Ana. | Madrid |
| Day 3 | MADRID-GRANADA | Today, we will visit the world-renowned Prado Museum, where we will admire one of the most impressive art collections in the world. In the afternoon, we will take a relaxing stroll through Retiro Park—once the private refuge of kings, now a popular gathering spot for all madrileños. We will also indulge in some churros con chocolate as we wander through the city's historic streets. Later, we will head to Granada by bus, the home of the iconic Alhambra, and settle in for the evening. | Granada |
| Day 4 | GRANADA | We will start our day with an unforgettable guided tour of the Alhambra, one of the most photogenic landmarks in the world. Afterward, we will have free time to explore Granada's charming old quarter, visit a traditional Moroccan tea house, and attend an evening flamenco performance in a cave above the town—a truly authentic cultural experience. | Granada |
| Day 5 | GRANADA--RONDA | Next stop: Ronda! We will travel to the heart of Andalucia to visit Ronda’s breathtaking ravine but first, we'll visit Setenil de las Bodegas, a stunning white-washed village partially built into a cliffside. In the evening, we'll have time to explore Ronda's unique atmosphere before a traditional dinner. | Ronda |
| Day 6 | RONDA-SEVILLA | After breakfast, we will make our way to Sevilla by bus, stopping en route at an olive farm to learn about the production of some of the finest organic olive oil in the world. Surrounded by the stunning Spanish countryside, we will learn about the intricate process of growing olives and producing oil. We will arrive in Sevilla in the afternoon and enjoy a dinner of delicious tapas. | Sevilla |
| Day 7 | SEVILLA | This morning, we will explore Sevilla on foot, including a visit to the impressive cathedral where Christopher Columbus is buried. After a tapas lunch, we will head to the "Setas de Sevilla," an architectural marvel, to take in breathtaking views of the city. In the evening, we will roll up our sleeves and prepare our own authentic Spanish dinner in a fun and interactive cooking class. | Sevilla |
| Day 8 | SEVILLA--MADRID | After breakfast, we will take a scenic train ride from Sevilla back to Madrid. Upon arrival, we will drop off our bags at the hotel and engage in a photographic scavenger hunt—putting our newly honed Spanish skills to good use as we explore the city in a fun and creative way. | Madrid |

We will visit the Royal Palace in the morning before having time to see the capital's bustling food markets and surrounding neighborhoods. Accommodations
In order to provide a safe and memorable experience, we follow strict guidelines when choosing group accommodations. Walking Tree partners with hotels and guest houses which are centrally located, locally operated, clean and safe. We inspect each partner hotel to ensure they meet these standards.
TOC Hotel Madrid
TOC is a spacious and hip hotel located in the heart of Madrid, just minutes away from the metro and major tourist attractions. This is a modern and hi-tech hotel with a friendly staff and a great breakfast! Travelers will have their own beds, distributed between double, triple and quadruple rooms.

The Hotel Peninsular perfectly combines the comforts of a modern hotel along with the historic aesthetic that comes along with a 19th century-era building in the heart of Girona. Hotel Travé
This historic hotel in Figueres is located in the heart of the Empordá and has welcomed travelers from all over the world to its accommodations for over 50 years. The en suite style rooms are designed to make guests feel comfortable and at home. Complete with modern amenities, garden areas, and a pool for use during spring and summer seasons, this is the perfect place to relax between adventures.
Monasterio Basilio
Monasterio Basilio is located in the center of Granada and provides an ideal location from which to explore the city. This cozy hotel can accommodate up to four students per room with ensuite bathrooms and the quirky aesthetic that defines this hotel makes for a memorable stay.
