Today we woke up at the hotel and had a breakfast consisting of rice and beans, eggs, waffles, and an assortment of fruits. After the meal, we got in the bus and went to Parque Marino Ballenas to go surfing. We were cracked out our minds at surfing and absolutely ripped those monster waves. Everybody else did amazing. All of our friends were able to surf and had a great time. Afterwards, we went to a restaurant with an old airplane inside!! While we were eating, monkeys were climbing in the trees and on the roof adjacent to us trying to steal sugar from the tables. Then, we went in the airplane cockpit, took photos and left. The drive down to the beach from the restaurant was short and windy. The water was clear and calm. All of us were in the water and having a blast. Even though the water was a little too high for me, I was so happy to be with my friends. Our guide Natalia had warned us about monkeys stealing food out of our packs then her pack got opened up by the monkey and her snacks were stolen. While we were in the water we started chicken fighting. We laughed so much! obviously. Overall today was great, we love the beach.

We woke up early for a unique rice and eggs breakfast and hot chocolate that was muy delicioso! Then we got on the bus and had an hour and a half drive to a magnificent waterfall. We had a little hike to the waterfall and were met with the most beautiful sight ever. We jumped into the water immediately and noticed people cliff jumping. One guy even did four backflips off the cliff! Then we ate a delicious lunch made by our host family. After lunch we hiked up to the upper falls and swam underneath the waterfall. We continued on and went back to the bus and stopped for ice cream. Then we drove 45 minutes to a beach where we swam and walked. After a very nice beach sunset, we went back on the bus and left to the hotel were we staying. We settled in and had a delicious dinner. We had a great day!

Today we woke up and had a lovely breakfast prepared by our host Leila, who made crepes with an assortment of fresh fruit. After our meal, we walked to the school to finish renovating the old garden by putting a net around the outside. Once we finished putting it up, we went to have lunch with the kids at the school. We enjoyed cake with icecream and the kids had a piñata! After that we went back to the guys’ house and hiked up the trail leading up the coffe mountain. At the top, we took a lot of cool photos of the view. Once the hike was over, we headed back to the school to complete the garden by planting lettuce, tomatoes, celery, and onions in the fresh soil. Then, it was time for dinner. We headed up the road to a trout farm to catch our own dinner. The trouts fought with each other over the bait until one got caught and was brought in to be cooked. After the meal, everybody headed back to relax on the patio before bed.

Then we went outside to play soccer (girls won!!!) with a gorgeous view of the sunset with the mountains. We finished the day with an awesome meal of arroz con pollo!! We can’t wait for tomorrow!!!!

Today we woke up to an amazing view overlooking the city of San Jose. We spent time basking in the morning sun and engaging games of chess. For our first meal of the trip, we had rice, beans, pineapple and eggs. After an enjoyable morning, we set off on our adventure to San Gerardo making stops on the way to grab lunch and to tour a local cheese farm. During our time at the cheese farm, we we taken through the step by step process of the delicious homemade cheeses that we later got to sample. Some of these stops included petting and milking a cow, feeding a calf, and learning about the sustainable agriculture. For example, they extract methane gas from the cows feces using a natural filtration system, which later powers the electricity for the cheese making. After a long and exciting day, we finished it off by settling in with our wonderful host families and enjoying a home cooked meal. We can’t wait for the adventures to come!
