Today we went to a very cool place, an elephant sanctuary! We started off the day with yummy breakfast and then headed on the buses. After a long bumpy drive, we arrived and took a quick walk up to see the elephants. First we fed the elephants sugarcane and took many pictures with them. After we were done, we set off on a hike into the jungle. We weren’t alone though, because the elephants came with us! We even saw an elephant break a tree down! While on our hike, we stopped to admire everything around us to appreciate how lucky we are to be here. We learned how they take care of the elephants to ensure their safety around other people and how important they are. We took even more pictures with the elephants, hugging them and petting them. After a few more minutes of walking, our guild said he had something special! Waiting around, he pulled out a giant spider!
After our amazing lunch with different types of curry and fruit, we made the vitamin balls for the elephant. These were made of all natural plants such as bananas, sea salt, sugar cane, and turmeric. We got to grind all of the plants into a paste and then shape them into a ball. Then we each got to feed the elephants with the balls.

Then, we got to bathe the elephant and give them a mud bath with the mud from the little lake. After we all washed off in a stream/reservoir with the elephant trailed right behind us. Some of us got to sit on the elephants and wash them off with the water. They even spout water out of their trunks!
After, we rinsed off and went on a rocky ride back to the hotel where we got to shower to get ready for a night market.

I woke up bright as ever but then my Gabe barged into our room because we forgot to lock the door. Yesterday Mr Lopez told us that we were going to a special place the next day but he wouldn’t tell us what it was yet. Besides that we went on an excursion in the morning to a local market. We didn’t see much there but Khloé and Gabe got coconuts, Jackson got the sniffy stuff, and Ms. Hawkins, I, and a few other people got some longan juice which was quite scrumptious. I sure some other people got some cool stuff but I wasn’t there to see it. We then left the market to go see a Mosque with Ajarn Pam. She showed us around and then we went to a gathering place to learn more about Thai culture. We learned a bunch of new words that to be honest at the time of writing this have been forgotten. We left the gathering place and went to a Sikh Temple and learned all about their religion and how they live their lives. During this we took a picture… a LOT of pictures. Then we went to eat some lunch. My hopes were high for this lunch because the previous meals were absolutely amazing. I was super surprised when I tasted this food because it exceeded my expectations! Then we left the Sikh Temple. Remember when I said that Mr Lopez told us we were going to a special place well it turns out it was a big water park made fully with bouncy castle material. We had so much fun! There were so many different activities including but not limited to Cliff diving, slides, and obstacle courses. About halfway through our time my arm got stuck in a rope after I jumped off something and I got a big rash on my arm. It doesn’t hurt but it looks really bad. Womp Womp. We stayed for dinner and stayed so long that the park shut down and we were forced to leave. We were supposed to go to a souvenir market after this but our teachers let us stay for an extra 2 hours so we moved that to tomorrow. On the drive back Mr. Lopez offered to go to the pool once we got back and I said “Heck no! I just spent four hours in a pool I don’t need any more”. Well we made it back to our hotel and everything is as bright as it once was in the morning. Till another adventure in the lovely land of Thailand.

Hi families. Today the game plan is we are traveling from Sukhothai to Chiang Mai. We started off the morning early, very early, like always and had a scrumptious breakfast. After that we drove to a D.I.Y workshop where we made amulets based on the background of Buddhism. These amulets were made from limestone clay which is used in stucco. After making the amulets, we shot an old bow and arrow that the amulet teacher had. Some of us  were good and some were bad. I was pretty much the only one that was bad, wait! I shouldn’t be saying that, I was good. Although my brother said I was pretty bad, but who cares. After this excursion, we then went to the Sukothai museum, where we saw many artifacts from the insane amount of temples. It was great because it was interesting and there was AC, which if you’ve been to Thailand is like heaven. Then a 4 hour bus through endless rice patties. And then we finally arrived at the hotel. After rushing to unpack we headed to dinner. This dinner place couldn’t have been more cultural. The smells going in through your nose into your stomach saying wow, wow, and an occasional wooooooooow. After dinner we headed back to the hotel to swim. Now imagine a 6 by 14 foot pool with 20 of us in it. Now it is a great pool, it just was basically vinaigrette. It tasted like vinaigrette and when it got your eyes, woooweeee. In the end it was a great day and we all had a blast. In total if you haven’t skipped any of this great, 100%. If you have just know that maybe one of your son or daughters wrote this.

Today we woke up in Bangkok after spending our first night in Thailand. We ate a delicious breakfast at the hotel and also enjoyed some Starbucks. Shortly after we said our goodbyes and drove a long 6 hours to Sukhothai. We stopped at a small restaurant on the way that was on the side of the road where we had curry spaghetti and chicken nuggets. We continued our drive for one more hour until we arrived at Wat Si Chum. We saw the very large Buddha along with a cat and took many photos. We took a short trolley ride and got on our bikes to look at some more temples. After biking around to see the many different temples we got back in our vans and headed for the hotel. We checked into the Ruean Thai Hotel and shortly after had a very delicious dinner. After dinner we went swimming, got many bug bites, and had lots of laughs. At around 8 pm we showered, turned off our phones and went to bed!

Today we began our adventure in Thailand. We landed at the airport early in the morning where we met our guides Bo and Prae. We drove about 20 minutes to get checked into our hotel and have some rest time. We had a lesson on the Thai language and exchanged our money for Baht and got some noodles for lunch. We then to a sky train to our long tail boat tour where we got to see Thailand from a rivers perspective. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the locals and waving as we drove past. Just after the bus ride, we headed to our next destination where we saw the temples for the first time. Despite the heat, we enjoyed learning more about Buddhism and other Thai religions. While seeing all of the landmarks we were simultaneously bonding with our classmates along the way. Our next stop was the museum where we got to learn about the ancient history of Thailand. We took an underground subway where we found ourselves grubbing on some pad Thai for dinner. We stopped to pick up some snacks and headed back tot he hotel for some well needed showers and rest.
