\n<\/strong><\/span>Not only do leaders need to be trained in First Aid and CPR, which are crucial in the event of an incident or emergency in the host country, it is also important that leaders have been trained to relate with students and teachers who are stepping out of their comfort zone to experience international group travel. My reason to travel:<\/strong>\u00a0One thing I love about traveling is connecting with people in ways you wouldn't at home. When you travel and do different activities you end up meeting people you wouldn't normally meet. Trying new foods, exploring new areas, and getting lost in translation are all ways in which I've made good lifelong friends while traveling.<\/p>\n

My favorite part about leading student groups:<\/strong>\u00a0I love being there to see the expression of a participant who is doing something for the first time in their life, or realizing that something they had never thought of before is completely normal for someone else.<\/p>\n

One thing I never travel without:<\/strong>\u00a0I always pack a pair of shoes I don't mind getting destroyed. That way I don't ever have to pass up any exciting (even messy) experiences.\u00a0Nevertheless, traveling is all about flexibility and adaptability so when I travel by myself I've learned to do it without really depending on a lot of things.<\/p>\n

My leadership style:<\/strong> I\u2019m a very organized person who puts attention to detail, so it makes sense that I like to have a plan and know my options beforehand, but I\u2019m also very adaptable leader. When it comes to decision-making I like to evaluate my options more than improvising, but growing up with a large family, constantly moving around to several countries, traveling has led me to embrace change as a fun and challenging aspect of leading. I\u2019ve learned to navigate change well, and I constantly look for opportunities to get out of my comfort zone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
