QUICK AND EASY PLANNING
Partnering with schools, families, professional organizations, or groups of motivated friends or colleagues, Walking Tree is excited to offer customized travel itineraries to a variety of destinations around the world. Seeking to provide our participants with a unique, adventurous, and safe experience abroad, our Custom Program Director will work closely with a group sponsor to design every aspect of your travel. We will work hard to tailor the itinerary to your pursuits and interests. Consistent with our dedication to community service, Walking Tree encourages groups to spend a portion of their program in one of our many host communities, dedicating time to homestays and service work.
We strive to make the planning process as easy and hassle-free as possible. We do this by helping the teacher or group organizer with recruiting and then with handling all logistical concerns including meals, transportation, accommodations, and group activities, leaving travelers to enjoy the ride.
Create Your Program
Walking Tree is eager to help you create your ideal travel program.
The cost of your custom program will be all-inclusive: international airfare, three daily meals, service project donations, group activity fees, in-country transportation, and accommodations. In addition, one group organizer will travel for free for every ten participants that sign up. During the program, an experienced Walking Tree leader will travel with your group helping to translate, manage the group, and ensure that everything runs smoothly. While it is impossible for us to know the price of your trip before your itinerary is finalized, all-inclusive programs tend to range from $2000 to $4000 per traveler including international airfare.

After you put together your itinerary, it’s time to start recruiting! Here’s how Walking Tree helps simplify the process:
- We will provide you with a helpful Recruitment Guide with useful tips and strategies.
- We will create a specialized website for your program where participants, parents and administrators can find detailed information about your program.
- We will send you materials to help promote your program, including posters, pamphlets and DVDs.
- A Walking Tree representative can visit your classroom or attend a parent meeting to answer questions.
- Our Custom Program Director will support you every step of the way!
Fundraising is a great way to bring your group together to have fun, to work towards a common goal and to offset the cost of tuition. We will send you a Fundraising Guide that contains effective ideas and strategies. Additionally, your group can sell Walking Tree gear and organic, fair-trade coffee to friends, family and community members. For each item sold, a percentage of the proceeds will be credited to your program tuition. Now that’s what we call a fair trade!

Our programs have the option of including a media package in which a media professional will document your experience from start to finish for a small supplemental fee. These photos and videos will enhance the blogs during the program, giving family, friends, and colleagues back home stunning visual updates of the groups’ progress. At the end of the program, the media guide will create a mini-movie showing the impact of the program through interviews and footage and set to music of the groups choosing.

Safety is our top priority and we take a multifaceted approach to ensure the physical and emotional health of our groups.
Our in-country staff meticulously prepares for all programs by verifying the records of our drivers, confirming the safety of all excursions, vetting homestay families through interviews and home visits and keeping up on important current events.
Our program leaders are fluent in the local language and seasoned travelers. They must also pass a background check and undergo thorough training in CPR, First Aid, program management and emergency protocols.
As a part of their application, participants must complete a medical release form and sign a Standards of Behavior agreement. Information provided on the medical release form is strictly confidential and enables us to best serve and support our participants while they are abroad. Our Standards of Behavior are rules we require all participants to adhere to.
We do our best to prepare for any eventuality and have detailed emergency protocols for our leaders, in-country staff and US-based team.
Travel can be unpredictable but we have you covered!! All Walking Tree Custom Programs include travel insurance that covers you in the event of emergency medical evacuation, unexpected medical expenses, lost luggage, travel delays, travel document replacement and more. You will receive specific information about what your plan includes and have the option of upgrading at a discounted rate.
Whenever necessary, Walking Tree will maintain a clear distinction between ourselves and the teachers, schools and districts from which our participants come. Participants would sign waivers that explain their program is not a school or district sponsored activity. Walking Tree also has a Travel Agents and Tour Operators Professional Liability Insurance Policy with the Zurich Insurance Company. This policy states that Walking Tree Travel and any of our affiliates have extensive liability protection. Once a program is set up, we can add a chaperone, a school or a district as an affiliate.
