Japan

This island nation, situated in the Pacific Ocean along the “Ring of Fire” tectonic hot-zone, offers everything from high-rise cities and imperial palaces to snow-capped mountains and bamboo forests. This destination is perfect for those who want a mix of urban exploration and rural adventure, since you’ll experience plenty of both throughout your time in this diverse country. Soak up every moment of the neon skyscrapers and unique pop culture of Tokyo city, all the while being immersed in authentic Japanese culture and history first hand. Get a taste of Japan’s traditional tea ceremony, make your own local cuisine in a cooking class, and try your hand at short-story animation when you sketch and produce your own short film! • When our daughter approached us about wanting to do this trip we had so many apprehensions as parents. (Her only apprehensions were food and bugs!). Paul Laurie was marvelous in spending time discussing all my concerns during a long phone conversation. Sarah has just returned from her trip & had the most amazing time!! Not knowing anyone quickly translformed into making new friends unlike any experience she has had. Her time spent with her host family was absolutely a life changing experience.. The arena built for the village by the group leaves a lasting physical & emotional impression for everyone. Kudos to the numerous videos produced & posted for their trip! I have tremendous respect for Walking Tree, and the way this trip opened my daughter's eyes like no other trip has ever done for her before.
