Welcome to Ireland, an independent nation state governed by a parliamentary democracy as the Republic of Ireland. Historically, the island of Ireland consisted of 32 counties, of which six remain as Northern Ireland, a separate nation within the United Kingdom. The bulk of the island, the 26 counties that form the Republic of Ireland, declared independence from the United Kingdom in 1919. Ireland is home to 4.75 million people, and approximately one-third of them live in Greater Dublin. Dublin is the capital and largest city in Ireland. Despite it’s size, the city is easily navigable on foot: you’ll walk along O’Connell Street and Grafton Street, through Trinity College, and across the River Liffey, see the Dublin Spire, visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and so much more.
Official Language: English, Irish Gaelic
Fun Fact: The Irish capital, Dublin, is home to over one quarter of the country's total population.

My homestay was amazing. They were so giving; they wanted me to be comfortable 100% of the time. They were so patient with the language barrier and it made me feel like a part of their family.
