Panama

Flag_of_Panama.svg

Panama is a land of contrast. Imagine one of man’s most impressive modern feats of engineering, in the middle of one of the most biodiverse countries on earth. Aside from the canal that makes it famous, Panama is a country full of hidden natural treasures, diverse indigenous cultures, and lessons in sustainability and environmental leadership.

Neither truly part of North nor South America, Panama’s long relationship with the U.S. yields a fascinating blend of Hispanic and English-speaking influences, which, combined with some of the world’s most thriving modern indigenous traditions, creates a beautiful patchwork of cultures at the very heart of the Americas.

  • When our daughter approached us about wanting to do this trip we had so many apprehensions as parents. (Her only apprehensions were food and bugs!). Paul Laurie was marvelous in spending time discussing all my concerns during a long phone conversation. Sarah has just returned from her trip & had the most amazing time!! Not knowing anyone quickly translformed into making new friends unlike any experience she has had. Her time spent with her host family was absolutely a life changing experience.. The arena built for the village by the group leaves a lasting physical & emotional impression for everyone. Kudos to the numerous videos produced & posted for their trip! I have tremendous respect for Walking Tree, and the way this trip opened my daughter's eyes like no other trip has ever done for her before.
